dry suit zipper - hinzer - 03-22-2008 Is silicon grease petroleum based? I was told a little grease at the docking point of the dry suit zipper is required. Any help is appreciated. Re: dry suit zipper - jleech - 03-22-2008 I would stick with drysuit zipper wax. You really shouldn't need anything else. It's really just for lubrication, not a seal. I've heard of people using other types of wax, bee's wax, or parafin wax. I've always used something packaged for drysuit zippers. Not because it's better, but just more convenient. Jeff Re: dry suit zipper - matt t. - 03-22-2008 To add to Jeff's post, the silicone grease never dries and will make a mess, I wouldn't use it on ANY piece of gear. Stick with zipper wax or bees wax. I try to wax my zipper every few dive weekends. Going on 6 years old with the same zipper. YMMV . Re: dry suit zipper - hinzer - 03-23-2008 Thanks for the info. To keep the docking part of the zipper lubricated should I place a smear of wax at this point? Re: dry suit zipper - matt t. - 03-24-2008 Sure, that'll work. |
