Sorry you had a rough ride and dove the Mahoning after north winds.  That kills the viz on that wreck.  Did you at least get to see the boiler and steam pump?

Re: Port Washington - JacobsonC2 - 06-03-2008

;D no kidding the lake was so rough that day!!!

Re: Port Washington - MikeS - 08-17-2008

My daughter and I did a night dive last night with Diver's Delight on the Mahoning.  Here is what we had to deal with:

Flat calm lake
Full moon
Less than crowded boat (5 divers)
Visibility approaching 40 ft.
Water temp was 68 degrees!!!!!!
No current
Fun crew
Port's fireworks viewed from the boat

Oh, well.  Maybe things will improve on our next dive.

Hmmm....And you mean there's a way to improve on that?  Thinking....

Beautiful people in skimpy bathing attire serving drinks in cocoanut shells with little umbrellas?  ;D  Uh, well, how old is your daughter, that may not have been "Age Appropriate!"  :Smile

Re: Port Washington - JacobsonC2 - 08-18-2008

The only way that, that night could have been improved was with beer during the fireworks! Here are a few pics...

Is the detour to the Marina still there or is it open now?

Re: Port Washington - smoothfin - 08-22-2008

there's barricades around St. Mary's, but the construction in the downtown area is done.  Best approach is from Grand Avenue (this would be the hwy 33 exit from 43, exit #96 i believe), and this is all clear to the marina and the downtown shops.  if you approach from the north down Wisconsin Ave then you still have to detour around the road construction around Monroe Street and then again around St. Mary's.
