Madison lakes now - MikeS - 10-28-2004

Does anyone have an update on vis conditions at the Madison lakes? I'll be in Madison tomorrow for a workshop that ends at 1:15. I thought that if anyone could offer a good shore dive (preferably at Mendota; I'll be on the west side - John Hammons Dr) I'd take my gear and give it a go. So... any suggestions? Thanks.

I was out spearfishing in Medondota today- got skunked. :'(

Water temps were around 48 degrees and the vis was a hazy 15'. Not too much in the way of silt, but all of the Daphina swimming around brought the vis down from where it would be otherwise. The deeper you went the better it seemed.

Spent a little over two hours in the water before my dive buddy froze out. I stayed toasty warm in the Elios apnea wetsuit I was wearing.

We did see lots of bass, walleye, carp and even some small gar fish, but nothing legal to shoot that's actually worth eating.
