By the way,Port Ulao North of the old pier is the wreck a Brig =119' " Mahoning " loss 1864, salvaged 1865 June,Pumps and riging were salvaged by a diver and tug of the times,must not be a deep wreck.

I located this on sonar using the numbers from above. Those numbers are slightly east of the intake. The other intersting note is that I have been passing right over this for years as it lies between the north gap and my turning waypoint to targets north. The turning way point was so I could avoid the rock hazards that are just east of the water plant. I have a better set of numbers if anyone is interested.
The top is about 12-14 feet of water. The intake is about 60 feet in diameter and it looks like it is made of lannon stone blocks that are pinned together. It stands roughly 5 feet off the bottom. It would have been neat to dive down bellow the bottom of the lake in this when it was intact. Having tons of air left I dove the old intakes a mile east and called it a day. |
