Re:Red Granite...
I was in Red Granite 10 days ago. 10-15 feet visibility above 20 feet, forget about it below 20 feet. May open up at depth, but did not check it out.

Re:Red Granite...
Red Granite got a mention in Dive Training. Page 99 of the August issue in their "Diving USA" section. Just one column - a paragraph with some general info followed by the vital statistics. It says "easy access" (true) and "great visibility" (??? - well, sometimes true). It also uses that goofy 238' number - which I've heard was just a dewatering well when the quarry was active. Thankfully there's nothing about the crane.
Nothing big but at least it's a mention for Wisconsin diving. |

Re:Red Granite...
Great Visibility - that cracks me up
Just dove the quarry on Sunday. It was okay viz in the shallows, down to 20' or so. After that, it was a few feet. We played around down at 70' for awhile but never really had anything all that good. It was typical Red Granite blackness down around 70'. |

Re:Red Granite...
I was watching Deep Sea Detectives on the History Channel. Diving on the wreck of the Luckenbach at 125 feet off of San Fransisco. They come up to complain that it is cold, dark deep and limited visibility and easy to stir up.
Sounded like Red Granite in summer to me. Welcome to my world. At least they had a line to follow up. Doug |

Re:Red Granite...
I just got done watching that too - they said it was around 48 degrees. I thought that sounded kinda warm - and viz actually looked to be pretty good!

Re:Red Granite...
I would take the visibility they had and the temperature anytime on the third boat in Red Granite.

Re:Red Granite...
I was in Lake Wazee on Saturday and Red Granite on Sunday. Had the camera with, so I took some pictures and will post them on other threads.
Found the swim suit that Chris lost last weekend. Do not know why he got rid of it. I liked it. I think that Todd did too. Doug |

Re:Red Granite...
Here is a litttle bass that had nice colors and made for a good contrast. Tried to get a picture of a yellow perch, but he did not cooperate. Perhaps a speargun is in his future.

Re:Red Granite...
Here is one of my favorite bass species. Unfortunately dead. But I hear that they grow lots of them in Milwaukee.
