Re:Lake Wazee
Post water, in fact I know the individual that put the angel down there. Properly positioned and with a clean gazing ball, the angel will appear in the ball when your dive light hits the ball as you approach. The effect is fanstatic, but takes the right set-up and approach. Doug |

Re:Lake Wazee
Omicron gives a good description in the Favorite Local Divesites topic There was a gazing ball at the end of this ramp kinda - if you were to go straight out from this ramp in the shallows there was a gazing ball, garden gnome, fencing, a couple of flower pots and all that fun stuff. This gazing ball is definitely deeper. There is a buoy that marks the 105' feet of depth. If you just drop down and then head straight out over the ledge you'll hit it. You can see it around 120' of depth. Right now, there is a line running all the way to the ball. I was diving there last weekend - you drop down to about 60' or so and there is a line running past the blue barrel, over the cliff and ending at the gazing ball on a reel. I don't know how good of an idea that is to have a guided line to the ball, but hey. Over on another side of the lake there is something similar - go to the 70' dive platform and right around there is a rope leading into deeper water. If you follow the rope down you'll find a little marker w/ 100' written on it. The rope goes all the way down to 145' and has a plate weight on the end of it - I'm not really sure what purpose it serves. This is kinda cool swapping stories about all the little toys buried in that lake Thi summer some friends and I want to build an underwater campsite...I've got an old tent I want to get rid of. We already practiced setting it up underwater once...hehe. It was hilarious. Also,, there is a lot of discussion about Lake Wazee under this topic. Doug |

Re:Lake Wazee
Thanks for all of that. It will give me somethings to look for when I get a chance to get up there.

Re:Lake Wazee
Made my 1st trip over to Lake Wazee on Saturday and it was a blast! Water temp was about 40 or so.....much colder around 85 ft ;D. Overall I was very impressed and I can't wait to go back on a sunny/ warm day!
I assume the campsites fill up fast over the summer?!? Tim |

Re:Lake Wazee
I think your refering to the East access and Yes, it was closed. They had huge boulders blocking the way in.

Re:Lake Wazee
OK...Thanks!!! (Yes , the east access is correct). I tend to call the accesses by what is there , not their directional position. (The Wall , Sherwood Forest , the BIG access)...

Re:Lake Wazee
My buddy (Scubert) and I dove at Wazee today. The ramp is almost finished. We talked to the ranger after our first dive and the ramp will be paved tomorrow with the other improvements to be finished in short order (nice new bathrooms). It sounds like it will be very nice when finished. Today was my first dive up there. Excellent weather! I will definitely be back, just wish it was closer to Milwaukee............
