Isle Royale, July 9-12th
Deep Blue has several spots available for their Isle Royale Trip July 9-12th. Contact Gert directly @ 414-975-1119.
This may be a 5 or 6 person trip depending on the experience level of the group. If there is a group that wants to do technical diving, that is probably an option. I don't think the Kamloops is on the agenda. There is no Trimix available, but there is Nitrox. |

There are still spots open for this trip. If you are at least AOW certified, and want to experience some great wreck diving, this trip is for you. It will be on the RLT diver and the cost is $950 per if there are 5 tech divers, and $800 if there are six people without all the stages and stuff. This includes food and lodging.

How many are going so far? What is the experience level of those going? I did this trip a few years ago, and was really disappointed with the level of experience on that particluar trip. For some, Advanced open water isn't enough, especially doing some of the deeper dives.

Re: Isle Royale, July 9-12th
I believe that there are three signed up.  I can't agree more that a AOW certification is hardly worth the cost of the card it is printed on.  That is a different topic all together.  As far as I know, there is One deco procedures/advanced nitrox instructor who is Trimix certified and will probably dive a rebreather within recreational depths, one deco procedures/advanced nitrox diver, and one is AOW.  If you and a tech buddy want to do the trip, nobody will have a problem with it provided you can show proper certification/experience for the dives you want to do.  I have been in the water with two of the divers, in fact, Gert was my deco procedures instructor, and the other diver was the divemaster for the deco procedures course. They are both very squared away.  I haven't personally dove with the third diver, so I have no opinion on his abilities.  I have been contemplating going on this trip, but if I make it all the way to Isle Royale I really want to dive the Kamloops. I don't see that happening on this trip.  What is your experience level? Â

Re: Isle Royale, July 9-12th
Man... I wish I could go on this, but I have a date with some wrecks in the Straits that weekend. I went a few years ago, and it truly was wreck heaven for a diver. Last time I talked to Gert, I think he said they were going with Brian Anderson - Captain of the RLT III. Nice boat, great captain. The food was great, the shipwrecks were awesome (I insisit on the Emperor - the size of the engine room alone will take you breath away), truly worth every penny.
Last time I was there, I wish we would have done the America about 10 minutes later than we had started. Had we done that, we would have been underwater when 4 moose swam directly overhead.... unfortunately, we were back aboard when the moose choose to do their swim... this is probably among the most beautiful places to go diving. Any chance I can be in two places at the same time? |

Re: Isle Royale, July 9-12th
I will be escorting this dive and if anyone has specific questions on this trip, just give me a call on my cell phone at 414-975-1119. When we did it last year, it was one of my all time favorite trips and with a less than full boat this year, there should be opportunities for as much diving as anyone would want.
