Rouse Simmons 18 June 2006
Two dives on the Rouse Simmons on Sunday morning. Rain and fog greeted us at the dock and made for a slow boat ride to the wreck. The lake wasn't flat by any means, but the frequency of the rollers made it not so bad. The upper 30-50 ft was very green with visibility less than desireable. This made the wreck very dark, and for a while it seemed we were on a night dive. With the lights off, everything had that eerie dark green shadow to it. I'll leave my light on thanks. Visibility on the wreck was easily 40+ feet. On the second dive there was more ambient light, but the conditions in the water column remained the same. The water was 42ish at depth and I think I saw 53 and 57 at 20ft for the final hang. The warm water at deco was nice, but it is hard to beat the visibility usually associated with cold water.
