Re: Devils Lake
Bleh, my son is newly certified and I'm taking him diving Sat.  He's been up to Wazee and down to Pearl, thought we'd hit Devils Lake Sat, but if viz is that bad, not sure now.  I don't want to discourage him on one of his last dives for the year.  Anyone been to both Devils Lake and Pearl recently enough to compare the viz?
The only good diver is a wet diver.

Re: Devils Lake
I have been to both and Pearl Lake is alot better than Devils right now!! Pearl is about 15-17ft. Except on the north end where it is a little worse. DL is 3-5ft maybe. You dont want to spoil him with perfect dives though j/k Wink

Has anyone been to Devils lake lately? Just wondering if it has cleared up yet?

Re: Devils Lake
Two weeks ago it appeared to have been clearing some, maybe 6-8 ft.  I plan on getting up there later this week and will post when I know more.

Re: Devils Lake
Thanks Mike, I was just pondering the idea myself. These cold nights should help. I am just antsy to get back into some good vis diving.

Re: Devils Lake
Well, I dove Devil's Lake this morning.  Temp was a consistent 48F.  Visibilty was 10 ft or slightly better.  I could just make out the road sign on the patio from the two upright sticks but I could easily see my float from 20 ft. down.  I farted around the patio and the east shore for about an hour.

The park was empty, really peaceful and not a ripple on the lake.

Viz should continue to improve.

Re: Devils Lake
Thanks Mike, sounds promising. I am planning on next week. Does the park close for diving soon?

Re: Devils Lake
As far as I know the park itself is open all year.  I believe you can always dive the south shore and the southwest area by the cabins.  The only area that you can´t drive to is the lot next to the RR tracks and they only close that area off when snow plowing becomes an issue.  I´ve seen the gate at that four-way intersection closed after significant snow fall.  You can always call the park and ask.  I am pretty sure that you can always dive somewhere in the lake.  3LD does their ice dive on the south shore, I believe.
