Alka-Seltzer
I just heard of a new trick to prevent too much water from getting into the housing in a flood. Add an Alka-Seltzer before you close it up. The water will cause the tablet to start releasing CO2 and pressurize the housing keeping more water from entering. 8) It is also supposed to better cleaning the residue off than trying to get salt water out of the camera.
Anyone else hear of this trick?

Wow... never heard of that, but it's certainly a clever idea. Thanks for passing it along.

Re: Alka-Seltzer
Don't forget if it doesn't keep the water out, you could always drink the Alka Seltzer after your surface to calm your stomach after seeing your nice new D200 flooded...... :-\

Re: Alka-Seltzer
I tested it with a Snap Shots housing that has a bad o-ring. WOW! :o
The housing became so pressurized that gas was blowing out the seal! Definitly no extra water got in. The housing opened forcefully with a loud pop. This trick seems to work great at keeping water out, but don't know how well the camera will survive.
