4th Annual Wisconsin Maritime History & Underwater Archeology Conference
The Wisconsin Underwater Archeology Association is pleased to announce its Fourth Annual Maritime History & Underwater Archeology Conference. This one day event will be held Saturday, October 25th at the Milwaukee Wyndham Hotel. Doors will open at 10:00 AM with presentations and papers throughout the day and an evening social gathering to follow. Please download the flyer at for details.
Registrations may be made online at . This year's event will feature Chris Baruth, the Curator of the American Geographical Society Library of the Golda Meir Library, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Chris is one of the leading authorities on the early US Lake Survey and will discuss the early charting of the Great Lakes. Additional presentations will feature the newly discovered wreck of the steamer Robert C. Pringle, which lies in 300 feet of water off Sheboygan as well as WUAAs 2008 fieldwork projects, including the Milwaukee Fireboat #23. Keith Meverden from the State Historical Society's Maritime Archeology Program will also present an overview of the SHSW's 2008 fieldwork. Other presentations and papers will be added in the coming days. Registration is $15, payable at the door and the event is open to the public.
