A few more pictures from the trip. Ethan found this little guy inside of Boiling Springs on the Big Piney river.
It is a Caecidotea isopod, possibly Caecidotea Antricola found in Boiling Spring on the Big Piney in Licking, MO. You can see the clip in the left hand side of the one picture for size comparison. Animals that live full-time in a cave environment are called troglobytes. We also found a troglobytic crayfish inside of Roubidoux Springs. He was completely without color and kind of translucent. Pretty neat looking. |
