Get to know the person servicing your regulators. Sometimes the regs are tuned incorrectly for diving in this area.

For the record, I'm now using Scubapro MK25AF/G250HPs. I hope that they don't fall into the Scubaflow category. So far I'm really pleased with them, but I suspect they won't really get a good workout until Mackinac. They've been on the Milwaukee and Willie without any problems, but the water hasn't been that cold.

Someone else mentioned setting the I.P. for cold water diving. This is below what the offical book says, but solved all my problems with freeze-ups.

Then again, if it ever would freeze up it would just give you too much air, instead of freezing shut and leaving you up the creek without a paddle.
