Renold's Pier and Cave Point

Went out Sunday and had a wonderful day!  Warm water, 20-50' viz, current from the South, lots of alewife everywhere. ;D

Today, green slime at Cave Point, really cold water, current from the north, and 30-50' viz at the Pier.  Saw a dead 18" lake sturgeon, recently deceased with lots of small bacterial growths. (VHS??)  Also developed a leak in the dome port of my video housing.

And I almost left my mask, snorkel, and fins behind!  Was half way home when I realized I forgot to pack them up! DOH!!!!

How was Renold's pier? Thinking of going there in a couple weeks.

I would hit it soon as possible before the green slime moves in.  It's a little more buried than I remember it, but there's one nice chunk that's uncovered very close to shore at perfect snorkeling depth.  The centerboard trunk is visable from shore right now.  The pilings are just below the surface.

stopped by cave point last saturday, it was really green and pretty rough.  didn't go in, just was in the area and checked it out.
