Lake Mendota- Maple Bluff
Last night the Four Lakes Scuba club went out diving off of Maple Bluff. A few of us freedivers tagged along for the ride. 8)

Re:Lake Mendota- Maple Bluff
The scuba divers were in scavenger mode and brought up quite a haul of anchors!

Re:Lake Mendota- Maple Bluff
One of my freediving students got so warm he opted to just dive in his wetsuit pants. Other divers dove without hoods or gloves. Surface temps were in the low 70's and the bottom temps below 25' were around 60.

Re:Lake Mendota- Maple Bluff
I spent most of my time in my 3mm, but by the end of the night I peeled it off and took a dip in just my swimming suit. The water was pretty comfortable in just a suit- until we swam down past 30'.

Here's a shot of Wes- the designated 'flag man'. Everybody loves the flag man because it means you don't have to carry it!

Re:Lake Mendota- Maple Bluff
The weather was so nice I just had to get a shot of my buddy, Ted, doing his 'sunset sail' impersonation.

One last shot of that sunset. 8)
It was a great night, with some warm water, and half-way decent vis- if you can look past all the daphnia swimming around munching on the algae. Secci disk reading for the day was 7 meters. Jon |
