He later said that he did not get any air. It worked fine for me. Either he did not succeed to purge the regulator or it was breathing hard due to the switch on the regulator being set to detune (-) versus breath (+). I have used my regulators in the (-) position many times so it was not an issue for me, it just breaths hard.

That is what I think happened.

The one thing to keep in mind with those add-on custom mouthpieces is that they reduce regulator performance by up to 25%.

No use in paying good money for a top reg just to limit it in the end with a restricive mouthpiece.
