They work pretty well. I used one for quit a while. Do not last in the iron mines.

Ah, ok, that's the case, it's to have a place to write your deco plan. Personally, I would steer towards the direction of Wetnotes, or even the Dive Rite or Halcyon (or Salvo) notebooks. Another thing to keep in mind is, I've seen a lot of divers get really creative of where they put their deco plan.
Example, if you have one of the older Halcyon HID light heads with the flat ballast, it's a decent spot to cover with some white duct tape and write a deco plan on, assuming you don't have too many stops. I'd still recommend keeping your contingency plans in a notebook in your pocket though. You may want to ask this same question in the tech forum and see what kind of advice you get.
