pilot island
pilot island was another dive we did up in door county. there are three schooners together at this site. they are almost on top of each other. max bottom depth is around 30ft. a similar dive to the fleetwing.

I also believe that this is a sheepshead or Freshwater Drum (Aplodinotus grunniens) from the position of the pectoral and pelvic fins, long 2-part dorsal fin, coloring and the arch of the head.

Looks like a drum to me.
Even though they are considered a rough fish, they still taste pretty good. I've taken a few of them in the Madison lakes when the crappie are scarce and I'm hungry for fish. Jon |
